Laura and John’s Wedding at the Engine Shed Wetherby

Where do I start with this one…at the beginning.

I met Laura and John at a wedding fayre at the Engine shed and had a great chat with them both about weddings and photography as John was a very keen shooter too.

As always you have a great connection with people and just hope that you get the chance to be their wedding photographer and they book your services.

Needless to say I was ecstatic when they got in touch to not only book me to shoot their wedding but for an engagement shoot as well. The engagement shoot was excellent and allowed us to get to know each other really well and get them used to being photographed.

Their wedding day seemed to come around very quickly after the engagement shoot. There was a nice gentle start to the day as I arrived and could see the groom and groomsmen were outside the front of the hotel drinking coffee and chatting.

It didn’t take long to feel like one of the lads and I was capturing all the banter going on, mostly at John’s expense but he is the groom so it’s sort of the law.

I was able to divide my time nicely between shooting the lads and the ladies. The ladies had an equally great atmosphere going on inside the hotel with bubbly, perfume, hairspray and giggles filling the room. Laura looked stunning already with hair and make up completed and the dress only moments away from being worn! Everyone was helping each other with the little make up and jewellery details as the time to the big moment was getting closer and closer.

When I arrived at the Engine shed it looked incredible with white lace hanging all around the room giving a lovely intimate feel to the room and the perfect setting for Laura and Johns day.

There was such a nice relaxed friendly feel to the whole day and nothing felt rushed or stressful, the whole day seem to flow really well from beginning to end.

One of the many highlights of the day was down by the river when we all got a mini bus to the riverside in Wetherby for group and couple shots. The sun and the weather seem to smile on us as soon as we got down there and with such a fun bunch the group shots were a pleasure and hilarious. The bride and groom shots were even funnier as when we have a bride with a veil we have to get a veil in the wind shot which proved a challenge when the was not even a breeze in the air. Luckily John’s quick thinking and even quicker hand action meant he was able to throw it in the air and assume position again in time for me to take the picture. This was easier said than done and a very amusing exercise when repeated over and over again with a variety of unusual results, it was well worth it as we got some cracking pictures for our efforts.

Such a fun day and I think everyone looked to be having such a good time.

Many thanks Laura and John on a superb day and congratulations to you both.
