Between Christmas and New Year, The Way of the Texan dropped into the York photography studio for a quick shoot and some publicity shots to use for their website and upcoming gigs.
They were unsure what sort of ‘look’ they wanted to represent their band so it was left up to me to offer them a variety of ideas covering a range of styles from which to choose. We worked through some ideas and within no time had a great series of images they were happy with. The benefit of the photography studio in York is that it’s a completely controlled environment in terms of the lighting. The options are endless and we’re not reliant on the weather for the ideal conditions.
When working with creative individuals the ideas seem to flow very quickly. I think any kind of shoot is always a collaboration between the photographer and the subject regardless of experience. It’s always a two way process which provide the best results. I pretty much guarantee you when you see an interesting image someone has created it’s usually not the first shot taken by them rather one of a series of ideas explored. It always helps of cause when there are big personalities involved to inspire you and bounce off such as the lead singer Katy whom added plenty of personality and colour to the session to make the images come to life!
I look forward to catching one of the gigs soon!
All the best,
