“Awwwww Ben, we received our photos yesterday and they are just perfect. You captured everything about our day. You were an invaluable addition to our day. Your support and kind words in the couple of weeks running up to our wedding were so important to us. I could not recommend you highly enough to anyone looking for a photographer!”
A beautiful day with two amazing people completely in love with each other getting married on a lovely sunny day.
Sounds pretty much perfect right? Except the run up to the wedding day was anything but for them both.
With only a week to go the day almost had to be cancelled due to a mysterious illness that struck Chris. This was originally threatening to be something very serious which was then diagnosed as being something he would recover from but unfortunately meant he would be in a wheel chair for the majority of the day. Obviously they were both extremely upset but at the same time relieved that the illness wasn’t the other thing that could of been even more serious.
This certainly put into perspective some of the usual more minor challenges that can occur in the run up to a wedding day!
I really don’t know how they kept as composed as they did. Top effort on both Kat and Chris’s part and Chris was even able to stand for parts of the ceremony and some of the group shots that we shot outside the back of the Hotel.
The aim for me photographically was to not let Chris’s wheelchair be so much of a feature in the images. I didn’t want their day to be defined by the wheelchair and thank fully I think we achieved this as we were able to get a cracking set of images from the day. The kids seemed to have a blast as well running around and playing together and keeping each other well entertained before everyone was seated for the wedding breakfast.
Kat looked incredible and very elegant in a beautiful gown and stunning complementary jewellery. As you can imagine there was a lot of emotion in the room when it came to the speeches. These are usually difficult enough to get through with out the sort of events that preceded today. Hat’s off to all involved and especially Chris which under a lot of pain managed to struggle through with out a word of complaint and nothing but smiles.
So glad their day was able to go ahead and I hope they’ll be enjoying their postponed honeymoon soon as they really do deserve it.
Much love Ben x
