Walking to today’s wedding for preparation shots in the glorious sunshine with my camera bag rolling behind me and a rowing event taking place on the river as I pass. Today feels like a good day to get married!
I first met Amy and Nick’s mum over a year before their wedding day for a coffee to discuss the day. Luckily for me I was one of the first people Amy booked for her wedding so I was over the moon! Talking to Amy at even this early stage in the process, I knew she had some really great and original ideas to make her day extra special at the wonderful Hospitium in York.
Having been a customer eating and drinking at the Judge’s Lodgings in York many times but I had never actually been in the hotel itself. I loved it’s quirky style and features which made for some great images early on in the day. Especially the ‘legs’ stools in reception which I just had to get John, Amy’s dad to sit on for me while I snapped away. Walking up the spiral stairs to the room where Amy was getting ready was easy to find, I just followed the sounds of laughter! Everyone was so calm! it was a super chilled atmosphere and I quickly got to know everyone I hadn’t met before and poured the Champagne as the finishing touches to hair and make up took place. With the day well under way and a light shower that came as quickly as it went, I made the short walk over the road and through the beautiful gardens to the Hospitium. The place looked sensational and more like an enchanted forest with flowers everywhere, all around the windows, on tables and growing out from the columns. With Amy’s vision and Sarah Elizabeth’s creations it looked so good!
The day went so quickly it was untrue. So it was great to have a few minutes with Amy and Nick and Amy’s brother helping out for some lovely shots of just the two of them up at St Mary’s abbey. Lot’s of lovely romantic photographs to end a truly splendid day.
Thanks so much and congratulations guys!
