“We’ve just received the photographs and they’re lovely! We’re chuffed to bits with them!”
What a beautiful morning to be driving up the A19 towards the stunning Gisborough Hall Hotel nestled on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors for Helen and Chris’s wedding day. I arrived at the venue and was instantly blown away by it’s grandeur and beautiful surroundings. I quickly joined Helen and her bridesmaids in their room to capture some of the preparations taking place. It was all very serene and very calm and the hair and make up ladies Lesley and Emma were making their finishing touches to everyone. More champagne was quickly ordered up to the room and there was a really lovely atmosphere. By the time Helen was in her beautiful dress she looked sensational embellished with lovely little details such as beautiful flowers in her hair and every wedding photographers dream…a veil! There’s so much you can do with veils to create great photographs we love them!
There were a few things that stood out to me after my initial consultations with Helen and Chris during the build up to their wedding day apart from them being a really genuinely nice couple was the mention of Chris’s Drone. Now, I have limited experiences with drones so was intrigued by Chris’s suggestion that his drone would be hovering overhead taking photographs of us as we were taking some of the group shots outside. On the wedding day itself it was the groomsmen’s job to get the drone airborne and with a few minutes of discussion between them it was up and away. The drone did sound a bit like a huge swarm of bees ready to attack the entire wedding party but after a while it largely went about it’s business unnoticed. Chris was kind enough to send me some of the pics which I’ve added to their gallery as it definitely adds something in terms of setting the scene and from a perspective that I would never usually be able to get (I’m tall, but not that tall!).
We did have to dodge a few showers earlier in the day but on the whole it was glorious. Especially during the early evening when we dove outside for a few more shots. I love the light the early evening offers. The sun is much lower and gives that lovely golden glow and long shadows. I always like to capture plenty of bride and groom shots throughout the day instead of trying to do them all in one go. This makes the whole experience far more enjoyable for my couples and also means we have never left the party for too long!
With the sun slowly disappearing and The Big Papas ripping up the dance floor with some great tunes! Everyone was letting their hair down and enjoying the party atmosphere and the whole day just went so so quickly it was untrue.
Thanks for a great day guys and congratulations to you both.
